The radiation really took it's toll on Susan's teeth.  She was an absolute fanatic about keeping them clean and using special rinses but her mouth was so dry there was no fighting the damage that was happening.

Enter Dr. Fard... our new favorite dentist who is located right here in Oakley!

After much consideration and research on both Susan and Dr. Fard's part, they decided on Crowns for all teeth!

Crowns required a couple steps... 1st would come the molds so that temporary crowns could be created in her own teeth's likeness.  She also got to select the color and shape of her "new" teeth which would be installed (for lack of a better word) in a 2nd step.

Here are some photos from this lengthy (and sometimes painful) process:

You can see from this "before" photo what Mom was faced with.

Because there was so little saliva in her mouth to rinse away bacteria, she had cavities and even chipping of her teeth.

She was a faithful brusher, flosser and rinser but it was beyond her control.

Lots and Lots of Tools and Prep Work went into this procedure!

You have to wonder what they did with some of it!!

Here are the temporaries... ready to be slipped on after her teeth are drilled down.

Here's Mom and Laura before getting started.  She assisted Dr. Fard.
